Guwahati: Union ports, shipping & waterways along with AYUSH minister Sarbananda Sonowal reveals that the north-eastern region possess the greatest potential for the next phase of economic growth of Bharat. The diversity of flora in the region along with the rich heritage of traditional medicine will act as a catalyst for development of AYUSH based industries here, he said.
Attending a review meeting of North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy, Shillong held at Umiam locality in Ri Bhoi district of Meghalaya on Saturday, Sonowal reiterated that PM Narendra Modi led central government is committed to elevate the economic proposition of the region and provide the launch pad for the country’s next economic growth.
The saffron leader also interacted with the students and faculty of the institute, where Sonowal commented that it was providing great service to the society. He stressed on the quality education in Ayurveda nursing and pharmacy as well as professional short-term courses in Panchkarma therapy so that the north-eastern students along with other parts of the country can avail it to finally pave the way for the economic growth.
Highlighting the rich & dynamic flora that nature has bestowed on the region, Sonowal pointed out that it will inspire the AYUSH based industries to look at the region as their next destination. Promising that the Centre would take initiatives for all-round development of the institute, he also declared that necessary steps would be taken to start PG courses and also stipend for the interns.
