1100 students to perform Borgeet, Dashavatar Nritya and Bhoratal dances
Guwahati, 5 December 2024: Valmiki Sangeet Vidyalaya, run by the city-based Dr Hedgewar Memorial Trust, regularly visits nearly 21 slum-areas inhabited by the sanitation workers to provide training in Borgeet, Sattriya & Bhoratal dances, folk dances, patriotic songs, and Assamese melody to the children living in these localities. With an aim to honor the revered constitution maker Dr BR Ambedkar (14 April 1891-6 December 1956), the Vidyalaya organizes an initiative to pay tribute to him on his death anniversary and also emphasize on duties & responsibilities of citizens as mentioned in the Constitution. Through various programs, the institution continuously strives to foster the cultural development of the children of sanitation workers in Guwahati.
As part of this effort, Valmiki Sangeet Vidyalaya has been organizing a spectacular cultural event titled Samatar Chandere Jiwanar Joi Gan (Joy of Life with the Rhythm of Equality) for the last few years. This year too, the event will take place on Sunday (8 December) at 4 pm in the Assam Cricket Association Stadium of Barsapara, Guwahati. Approximately 1100 students of the Vidyalaya, along with around 100 children from different parts of the city will perform Borgeet, Dashavatar Nritya and Bhoratal dances during the event.
Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma will be the chief guest of the function where Dr Krishna Gopal Sharma, Saha Sarkaryavah of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh will deliver the keynote address. Religious leaders from various faiths, Satradhikars, eminent writers, artists, educationists, sanitation workers and citizens from various fields will grace the occasion.
Dr Bhupesh Chandra Sharma, President of Dr Hedgewar Memorial Trust and Ram Singh, President of the celebration committee invite everyone to attend the event and pay homage to Dr Ambedkar through various cultural programs.
