Guwahati, 29 January 2025 : A stampede-like situation took place at Maha Kumbha Mela in Prayagraj of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday morning during Amrit Snan on Mauni Amavasya, but no casualty was reported till noon. Some media outlets started pouring news about a stampede as large numbers of pilgrims tried to take a holy bath on sacred water causing death to many people, but a devotee from Assam at the ground denies any casualty and stated that the process of taking holy dip is going on. Speaking from Prayagraj at around 11 am on Wednesday, the Assamese devotee stated that the authority had taken all precautions preempting such an unfortunate incident at Tribeni Sangam.
Meanwhile, UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath urges all pilgrims to follow instructions and avoid going to the confluence of sacred rivers Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. He appealed to the millions of devotees to take holy dip at their nearest Ghaat instead of rushing to Sangam Nose. Asking everyone to obey the instructions from the concerned authorities on duty and ignore rumours, CM Yogi expected that Triveni Yog, coming after 144 years to enhance spiritual significance this year, will witness a safe and comfortable organization, where nearly 40 crore pilgrims may attend till the end of the largest gathering of Hindus on Earth
