The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has suspended Assistant Executive Officer A. Rajasekhar Babu after receiving reports that he regularly attended church prayers every Sunday in his hometown, Puttur, located in Tirupati district.
In an official statement issued on July 8, the TTD said, “It has come to our notice that A. Rajasekhar Babu attends church services every Sunday in Puttur. This is a clear violation of TTD’s code of conduct, as employees of the institution are expected to adhere to the spiritual and disciplinary framework of the TTD, which is a revered Hindu religious organization.”
The TTD emphasized that its employees are custodians of one of the most prestigious Hindu institutions in the country, and their conduct must align with its religious ethos. Following an internal enquiry by the Vigilance Department, supported by substantial evidence, disciplinary action was initiated, resulting in Babu’s immediate suspension.
This decision comes amid a broader campaign by the TTD to reinforce discipline and restore sanctity within its institutions, especially after recent controversies, including the adulterated laddu issue.
In a related move, the TTD has also transferred Padmavati Mahila Polytechnic Principal, Anshuta, to the Narsingapuram Pharmacy College. The action follows multiple complaints alleging that she belongs to a different faith, refused to participate in Hindu religious activities, misbehaved with faculty and staff, and engaged in unauthorized sale of college materials. Her colleagues accused her of disrespecting the cultural values and devotional practices expected from personnel in a TTD-managed institution.
These steps are seen as part of a larger initiative by the TTD under the new Andhra Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, to reinforce religious discipline and institutional integrity.
