Guwahati: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale recently visited the campus of Pragjyotishpur University, located at Hajongbari in Chandrapur locality, near Guwahati and interacted with the university family. During his visit on 8 September 2026, the RSS Sarkaryavah shared valuable thoughts and perspectives on the role of education, culture, and values in shaping society. His address inspired the students, faculty members, and members of the university community towards developing a stronger and more meaningful vision for education, cultural awareness, and nation-building.
Highlighting the transformative role of education in societal and national development, Hosabale emphasised on the need for student-centric, experiential, and skill-based learning. He underscored the importance of character building and value education in alignment with the National Education Policy. Describing students as the foundation of the nation’s future, he commended the collective community effort behind the non-profit institution. He also made a special mention of the inaugural batch of students, noting their unique legacy as the university’s founding cohort.
PU vice-chancellor Prof Raghvendra Prasad Tiwari delivered the welcome address outlining the university’s vision to integrate Indian Knowledge Systems, traditions, and values with contemporary global education. He stated that the institution aims to nurture a generation rooted in its heritage, equipped with modern knowledge, and committed to contributing toward making Bharat a Vishwaguru. The event was held in the presence of University Chancellor Lt. Gen. Rana Pratap Kalita (retired).
Later, Hosabale along with V Bhagaiah and Ulhas Kulkarni (both RSS Akhil Bharatiya Karyakarini Sadasya), participated in a sapling- plantation drive on the university campus, where Basistha Bujarbaruah, RSS Kshetra Prasarak, KN Raghunandan, organizing secretary of Vidya Bharati Ucha Siksha, Dr Pawan Tiwari, organizing secretary and Dr Jagadindra Raychoudhury, secretary of Vidya Bharati Purvottar Kshetra, Dr Debabrat Khanikar, PU register, Indra Chapakai, PU member, etc were also present.
The program highlighted the importance of connecting education and social responsibility with environmental conservation. The plantation initiative symbolized a shared commitment towards environmental responsibility and the creation of a greener and more sustainable future. Altogether, Sarkaryavah’s visit was marked by meaningful interaction, insightful thoughts, and a strong message of responsible citizenship, cultural rootedness, and sustainable development.
