Sonowal lays foundation stones for Six Ayush hospitals in Mizoram.

Guwahati: Union ports shipping & waterways and Ayushminister Sarbananda Sonowal announced a slew of measures to boost the Ayush sectorin Mizoram. Along with the State chief minister Pu Zoramthanga, Sonowal  laid the foundation stones for six Ayush  in Aizwal on 3 March 2022.In a further boost to healthcare infrastructure in the hill Stateof the region  24  Ayush health & wellness centres (HWC)were also inaugurated across Mizoram. Three 50-bed hospitals will be developed inAizawl, Champai and Hnahthial. Another three 10-bed hospitals will be set up atKhawzawl, Saitul and Hortoki area of Mizoram.Highlighting the importance of traditional Indian medicine,Sonowal elaborated the role the folk-medicine of northeast India can playin palliative, preventive, curative patient care and as modern healthcareinitiatives. He underlined the importance of unlocking value from the richtraditional medicinal practice of India, including the folk-medicines ofMizoram and other north-eastern States.“The rich heritage of traditional medicines as envisaged byAyush is scientifically proven to be effective in patient-cares. The holisticapproach to patient care and healthy lifestyle includes both preventive aswell as curative aspects. The Ayush  traditional medicinal practices have been takingcare of both these aspects,” said Sonowal.He also added that  inorder to learn and  leverage folkmedicine, the Ayush ministry is conducting a multi centric research project tocritically appraise and validate local health traditions, oral health traditionsand Ethno medicinal practices (EMP) among ethnic communities of the region.“Through the ACT East policy, PM Narendra Modi  has envisaged the region to be the mostimportant localities of India that will power the new engine of growth. AstaLakshmi can be realised fully when Mizoram,  along with other north-eastern States,  become Atma Nirbhar by enhancing our wisdom,work in cooperation & partnership, and develop our abilities to compete at theglobal level.” In presence of State health minister R Lalthangliana, Parliamentarian C. Laltlanthanga, local legislators andother senior officials, Sonowal predicted that Mizoram will be the mostattractive State of India  and not only theIndian people, but people from abroad, would be keen to visit the beautiful State.
