Guwahati: As a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav commemorating India’s 75 years of independence, the Dhubri district administration in western Assam organised a Tri-colour boat rally on mighty Brahmaputra river on the starting day of Har Ghar Tiranga program. Kamrup metropolitan district administration organised a cycle rally with more than 100 participants to celebrate the occasion.
The Dhubri boat rally, organised in collaboration with the BSF and State police, marched from Kachari Ghat to Chalakura Char (river island) with well-equipped 75 machine boats, designed with the three colours national flags & balloons and returned back. Dhubri district magistrate Anbamuthan MP took the initiative to spread awareness among the people living in vast Dhubri Char-areas, bordering Bangladesh.
On the other hand, the Guwahati rally was organised in collaboration with the sports & youth welfare directorate and Kamrup metropolitan district sports office which started from RG Baruah sports complex in Ulubari and returned back after completing the route to Ganeshguri Ganesh temple. It was flagged off by swimmer Elvis Ali Hazarika in presence of several dignitaries.
The State government has joined hands in the campaign from 13 to 15 August and appealed to the people to hoist or display Tri-colours in all government & non-government offices, educational institutes, public sector understandings, banks, commercial establishments and households within the period.
