Guwahati: Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria recently adopted ten patients suffering from tuberculosis (TB) for six months as part of Nikshay Mitra, a community support initiative for TB patients under Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. The initiative is understood as a step towards garnering community support for the specific healthcare system.

Governor Kataria appealed to all sections of the society for adopting TB patients and donate generously them through the Nikshay Mitra initiative. He said that every citizen should come out and support the noble cause of providing nutritional support to TB patients. As part of the program, he also handed over the prescribed food basket to the health officials to be delivered to patients.

Earlier, Governor Kataria attended the seventh All India Deaf Conference held in the city on Saturday. He commented that it is the noble duty of every individual, as well as various organizations and the government machineries, to ardently formulate and disseminate the initiatives and schemes made for Divyangjans. He also hoped that conference would act as an important platform for the people with hearing deformity across the country.

“The conference should highlight the rights of the people with hearing deformity and empower them to lead a dignified life. It should also address the challenges related to quality education,” said Governor Kataria adding that the conference, organized by All India Federation of the Deaf, can drive positive changes and enhance the educational landscape of the community by fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
