New Delhi: Commenting on the recent debates emerged after a young politician publicly stated for eradication of Sanatan Dharma, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) warned him and his supporters not to indulge in such things because the consequences of which would be very serious. Some politicians are daydreaming to end the Sanatan, which the Mughals, Missionaries and British forces could not destroy, said VHP President Alok Kumar.
“I am surprised by both the language and spirit of the statement of Tamil Nadu chief minister’s son Udhayanidhi Stalin (also a State minister) on Sanatan Dharma. The kind of threats he issued without considering his own strength, its consequences can be serious,” asserted Kumar. Himself a practicing lawyer, Kumar also reminded that Sanatan Dharma was challenged by all foreign forces, but they failed in their mission. The Mughals and British forces have disappeared from the land. It shows that one who talks about destroying Sanatan, himself gets destroyed in due course of time.
The VHP leader questioned if Udhayanidhi’s statement is endorsed by the government in Chennai. If so, then we will inform the Union government in New Delhi that Articles 25 and 26 of the Constitution gives every person the right to practice his/her religion. It is the duty of the government to protect it, opined Kumar. He also stated that the intention to abolish Sanatan should invite immediate government actions and hence the Center must think about the options in front of it.
The religion that sees God in the heart of every individual and promotes social justice, must not be targeted, said Kumar, adding that the Dravidian culture is also one of the spiritual streams born in Bharat with a unique and beautiful image. We all get inspired by reading about Saints Thiruvalluvar, Alvars and Nayanmars, stated Kumar, adding that Udhayanidhi should find examples of mutual consent and unity instead of disintegration and destruction. Kumar advised them to study the root of Kambha’s Ramayana and other religious texts before making any public statement.
