A Literary discussion on Pragjyotishpur Literature Festival
The first literary discussion focusing on the objectives and essence of the first Pragjyotishpur Literature Festival to be held from 29th Sept – 1st October 2023 at Guwahati was successfully organised by the Department of Assamese, B. N. College, Dhubri. Soumyadeep Datta, Director – Nature’s Beckon, Northeast India & Working President – Pragjyotishpur Literature Festival graced the occasion as the invited speaker.
The program was inaugurated by Smt. Rita Bora, Vice Principal, B. N. College, Dhubri. Dr. Upendrajit Sarma, Head of Department for Assamese read the objectives of this program with all participants. The program included cultural performances. Dr. Polly Bezbaruah, Faculty – B. N
College led a group of students in their beautiful group song performance. A Bharat Vandana was performed by one of the students in Sanskrit language. The program also included recital of self composed poetry by the participants.
Sri. Datta spoke about the importance of connecting with the roots of civilization and the encouraged the students to read and learn more about Indian civilization, our historical and linguistic heritage. He encouraged the young generation to contribute towards the growth of literature in regional languages of India. Speaking about the objectives of the Pragjyotishpur Literature Festival, he highlighted the importance of India’s rich linguistic heritage. Every Indian language is National language, the growth and progress of literature in regional languages is of great significance for preservation of our cultural history. The Prgajyotishpur Literature Festival in an endeavor to mobilise literature to connect with and empower the roots of our civilization through the three days long extensive literary exchanges.
Sri. Datta spoke about the importance of Praghyotishpur Literature Festival in showing a futuristic progressive path for purposeful literature in India. He spoke about the importance given to ‘Nature-writings’ by this litrature festival. He encourages the students to read, write and contribute towards the growth of nature-writings in NE India. He spoke about the role of Nature’s Beckon’s nature- writings movement which led the steady growth of nature-writings literature in Assam in the past four decades. Sri. Datta expressed his gratitude to all faculties and students present during the program. He expressed gratitude to the Assamese department of B. N. College, Dhubri for their kind support and active participation in the program. Sri. Datta extended his gratitude to Dr. Dhruba Chakravarty, Principal, B. N. College “BNC”, Dhubri for his support and cooperation. The program ended amidst enthusiastic participation from all students and faculties who expressed hope and eagerness for the Pragjyotishpur Literature Festival.
