Assam Guv graces Pushpanjali classical dance festival

Guwahati: Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria recently attended the classical dance festival and Arangetram ceremony organised in the city by Pushpanjali Cultural Academy with an aim to showcase a kaleidoscope of classical dance forms from across Bharat. Speaking on the occasion, Governor Kataria stated that Indian classical dance forms are a symbol of the cultural identity of our country, which dates back to centuries.

“The classical dance forms are the media of artistic expressions through which various stories, cultural and religious themes are expressed. Indian classical dance is a beautiful and captivating art form that has been passed down for generations. There are several beautiful classical dance forms and each represents the country’s rich cultural heritage. Cultural relations between different countries of the world are being developed through global exchange programs and developing cultural relations,” said the Governor.

Lauding the exponents of different classical dance forms, he said that their contributions have led to promoting and propagating Indian folk art & culture across the country and abroad. The Governor also added that Indian classical dance holds immense cultural and spiritual significance in the society. They serve as a means of preserving and passing on traditions, customs and legends. With more to it, they have played a role in religious rituals and ceremonies, often serving as a form of worship and devotion, he stated.

“The classical dances bring people together and create a sense of well-being among people. The language of dance can transcend cultural barriers and provide a unique way to communicate without using words, further strengthening the sense of unity. Today, Indian classical dances are quite popular all over the world,” commented the Governor.
He lauded Pushpanjali academy for making significant contributions in shaping the young generation for national spirit through classical dances. Renowned dance exponent Padmashree Leela Samson also attended and performed in the program. Padmashree Jatin Goswami, Padmashree Ghana Kanta Bora along with a host of dignitaries were also present in the ceremony..
