Assam CS compliments medical fraternity on Doctors’ Day

Guwahati: Assam chief secretary Ravi Kota, while attending the Doctors’ Day program at Gauhati medical college hospital auditorium in Bhangagarh of the city on Monday, hailed the resilience, bravery and selfless dedication shown by the medical practitioners during the Covid-19 pandemic days not just in Assam or India but globally. Speaking on the occasion, Kota appreciated the medical professionals for their incredible contribution towards the society even in the unprecedented challenging period.

Thanking the doctors, nurses and health workers for their unwavering commitment towards the medical profession, the CS underscored the invaluable role played by them at the forefront during unforeseen circumstances. He pointed out that healthcare and education emerge as two critical areas of the State government and both are important parameters to gauge the holistic progress of the society and the State as a whole.

“Under the leadership of CM Himanta Biswa Sarma (also in charge of State health ministry), Assam witnessed a remarkable progress in healthcare and to strengthen the relevant infrastructure and overall service conditions for medical professionals, many significant steps have been initiated by the administration,” said Kota, adding that under the proactive leadership of Sarma, extensive projects were undertaken for modernization of hospitals and medical facilities across the State and also enhancing medical education, providing better working conditions for doctors and other healthcare professionals.
