Assam appoints 22,958 youths in various government departments

Guwahati: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched the ceremonial distribution of appointment letters to 22,958 new recruits in 11 departments of the State government in a program held in the city on Saturday. Sarma ceremonially handed over appointment letters to 17 candidates and urged every new recruit to take a pledge to perform the duties with dedication & sincerity.
Out of all posts, appointment letters were distributed to 8,867 in home department, 11,063 in education, 330 in PHE, 105 in water resources, 69 in social welfare, 2419 in health,55 in agriculture, 23 in environment & forest, 8 in PWD (roads), 2 in mines & minerals and 17 in labour welfare section.
Sarma stated that the government has been working in a planned way to fulfill its promise made to the people during election rallies of providing one lakh government jobs and two lakh employment to the youth of Assam, if voted to power.
Stating that fight against the Covid-19 pandemic (also protecting lives & livelihood of the people) for next five months after formation of government was its priority and once the situation became normal it had taken several key initiatives including enhanced benefit under Orunudoi scheme, launch of MFI loan relief scheme, etc as part of fulfilling the election promises.
Sarma also added that the ministers in his cabinet worked unrelentingly during this period as a result of which it became possible to provide government jobs to 4,779 youths already. In continuation to it, the government has organized the Saturday event to distribute appointment letters to 22, 598 recruits. Saying that government employees could make meaningful contributions towards changing the fate of Assam, Sarma observed that initiatives like mission Basundhara created new hope among the people.
In presence of State ministers Ranjeet Kumar Dass, Atul Bora, Parimal Suklabaidya, Keshab Mahanta, Ranoj Pegu, Jogen Mohan, Ajanta Neog, CM’s political secretary Jayanta Malla Baruah, State chief secretary Jishnu Baruah & police chief Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta with other dignitaries, Sarma commented that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision and cooperation gives inspiration and motivation to take the State towards a new growth route.
