Assam to hoist 80 lakh tricolours on 13-15 August

Guwahati: Assam will hoist over 80 lakh national flags from 13 to 15 August to observe the 76th Independence Day. Across the country, 20 crore tricolours will be hoisted with active participation of the common Indians under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to mark the celebration of 75 years of India’s Independence.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to the nation to hoist the national tricolour during 13 to 15 August next across the country, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma released a video on HarGharTiranga campaign to generate awareness on the initiative to mark the I-Day celebrations with special galore.
Sarma urged the people to hoist the tricolour at their houses, business establishments, government and private offices, schools, religious places and all other public avenues. He informed that following requests from the government, the self-help groups in the State have taken steps to produce around 30 lakh flags. He added that the government will procure around 50 lakh flags from the textiles ministry.
National flags will be available at fair price shops also, where one can purchase it with rupees 18 only. The government will provide additional rupees 18 to the Orunodoi beneficiaries so that they can purchase the tricolour for the occasion. Sarma aslo asked the people to upload photographs of hoisting the tricolours in their localities at HarGharTiranga website as a part of celebration.
