Kochi. The Mahakumbh Mela held in Prayagraj was a confluence of science and spirituality, said Shehzad Poonawalla. He stated that 660 million Indians participated in the Mahakumbh Mela, bathing in the sacred waters, conveying the message that faith and unity transcend caste, creed, race, and language. He was speaking at the Social Media Confluence Lakshya 2025 organized by the Vishwa Samvad Kendra.
He emphasized that the essence of Sanatan Dharma is unity, which was evident in the gathering. Adi Shankaracharya, who was born in Kalady, established Peeths in four regions of Bharat, reinforcing the nation’s unity. This tradition of unity continues to flow even today.
Even distinguished individuals from 76 countries attended the Kumbh Mela. The event was one that elevated the nation’s self-esteem. However, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav, and Mallikarjun Kharge attempted to criticize it. Poonawalla questioned whether they would dare to criticize the gatherings in Mecca, Medina, or other religious congregations.
He also pointed out that when the British arrived in Bharat, the country contributed 15% to the global GDP, but by the time they left, it had dropped to 4%. Those attempting to hinder Bharat’s rise were the same ones targeting the Mahakumbh Mela.
