CM Sarma attends 508 railway stations redevelopment program
Guwahati: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday attended the foundation stone laying ceremony for redevelopment of 508 railway stations from across India, including 32 in the State, under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through the video-conferencing method. Out of Rs 25,000 crore that has been allotted for the redevelopment of the stations, around Rs 990 crore is earmarked for the modernization of Assam-based stations. Speaking on the occasion, Sarma exuded confidence that these 32 railway stations would undergo redevelopment under the new scheme and provide a comfortable & dignified travel experience to the railway passengers.
Referring to PM Modi’s clarion call to the fellow countrymen to celebrate 25 years from 75th Independence Day as Amrit Kaal, Sarma expressed hope that the nation would attain the status of Vishwa Guru (world leader) on the 100th year of Independence in 2047. Under his visionary leadership, India has been making rapid progress on every front and today stands as the fifth largest economy in the world, stated Sarma, adding that the country would transform into the third largest economy in the globe very soon.
In presence of Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, Parliamentarians Queen Ojha and Pabitra Margherita, Guwahati municipal corporation mayor Mrigen Sarania, NF Railway chief general manager Chetan Kumar Srivastava with others, Sarma also lauded the Union government’s decision to grant Rs 10,000 crore for the NF Railway in the the budget. This would aid in timely completion of many ongoing projects being carried out by the NF Railway authority, he stated, adding that these projects have the potential to transform the railway landscape of the region.
