CM expects to complete new State assembly building by December

Guwahati: Assam chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, while reviewing the progress of works for new State assembly building in the capital
complex, asked PWD (building) officials to complete the work by December 2021.
In presence of State assembly speaker Biswajit Daimary, deputy speaker Dr Numal Momin, CM’s political secretary  Jayanta Malla Baruah along
with other top government officials, Sarma expected to conduct the winter assembly session in the new building.
Earlier in a separate meeting at Janata Bhawan in Dispur, Sarma reviewed the ongoing schemes and proposed initiatives of the handloom
& textiles and sericulture department for the benefit of weavers. As the women of Assam have core competency in weaving, the department
should conduct an intense brainstorming for drafting a plan to transform it into a potent platform for the weavers, he added.
Considering the fact that more than one lakh weavers of the State have yarn bank passbook under which they are entitled  for 4.5 kg yarn per
month, he  stressed on supplying   quality   yarns to them and also upgrading their  skills regularly.
In presence of State handloom & textiles and sericulture minister UG Brahma along with top responsible government officers, Sarma also
emphasized on reviving ARTFED and also setting up display counters at all Assam Bhawans in different cities.
