Assam’s Biswanath Ghat to get a modern floating jetty

Guwahati: The Union government in New Delhi is planning to set up a modern floating jetty at the historic Biswanath Ghat in eastern Assam, which is expected to create a smooth platform to transport both cargo & passengers via waterways and in turn it will enhance the local economy, said Union ports, shipping & waterways minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday.
“Once functional, the Biswanath Ghat jetty will act as a catalyst of change and realisation of the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi about transformation via transportation. The rich history of  Biswanath Ghat – as a confluence of spiritual, economic & social points of importance – will get a further boost,” added Sonowal.
By re-energising the traditional routes of trade via Brahmaputra river, it would provide tremendous opportunities to regain the glory as an important hub of trade, stated the senior Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader also also attended two party meetings at Biswanath and Tezpur and interacted with the workers. Sonowal called upon them to commit to the cause of nation building with complete dedication.
“Since the time of its birth, the BJP has always worked towards holistic development of the country. The sincere work by party workers and love for the party by people across all sections of the society have made it possible for BJP to become the largest political party in the world,” asserted Sonowal.
Due to lack of interest by successive central governments towards sincere development of north-eastern States, the region was plagued by distress, violence, insurgency, corruption and hopelessness staring at every youth, commented Sonowal adding that it was a dark chapter until 2014 when PM Modi won a historic mandate.
“With Modiji’s passionate and infectious dedication towards nation building, the country has witnessed a rejuvenated growth trajectory that it has never experienced. With the tectonic policy change from think to act east, he ensured that the development in the region gets top priority as it is poised to act as the new engine of growth in a new India,” added Sonowal.
With the visionary mottos like ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’ Modi has provided an opportunity to every Indian to become an equal stakeholder in the development of this new India. This is a perfect example of good governance, opined Sonowal adding that under his leadership, India has become a powerful country at the global stage and its renewed importance can be experienced with the hosting of prestigious G 20 meetings.
