Guwahati: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday held a meeting with the delegation of All Bodo Students’ Union and Bodo Sahitya Sabha regarding the development of educational sector in Bodoland Territorial Region as per the Bodo accord.
During the meeting at Janata Bhawan, it was decided that 26 venture colleges would be taken up in BTR for provincialization in the first phase. The higher education department will check the status of the colleges, infrastructure, qualification of existing faculty, need for fresh recruitment etc for taking appropriate actions.
In another decision, creating adequate Bodo language-teacher posts in schools in Bodo areas as per NEP 2020 was emphasized. Single cadre post creation will be done in all government and provincialized colleges. A campus of Bodoland University will be set up at Udalguri and holding special TET for Bodo medium were also resolved.
CM Sarma directed to form an advisory committee with the representatives of WPTBC department, education department, ABSU and Bodo Sahitya Sabha for supervising proper implementation of the decisions taken in the meeting.
He also announced of rupees five lakh as ex-gratia to Malobika Daimary, who was recently injured in a forester’s firing incident at Boko under Kamrup district and directed the Guwahati medical college hospital authorities to provide her best treatment.
