CM Sarma opens projects worth Rs 555 crore for Bongaigaon

Guwahati: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of infrastructure projects worth Rs 555 crore for Bongaigaon district. He inaugurated the bridge over Aie river on the Borghola-Kirtanpara road (built at a cost of Rs 69 crore), ecopark & connected wetland development project worth Rs 15.69 crore, statues of Mahabir Chilarai and Lachit Borphukan (built at a cost of Rs 14 lakh and 8 lakh respectively) on premises of the district library, a conference hall cum convention centre (built at an approximate cost of Rs 17.94 crore) etc.

Sarma also laid foundation stones for the Rs 417 crore development & improvement project for Jogigopha-Sahid Bedi road under Asom Mala scheme, a mini stadium at Barshangaon (for which a sum of Rs 11.99 crore is allocated), Rs 6.20 crore infrastructure development of Raghunath temple at Srijangram along with among others.

Addressing a public rally Sarma said the current dispensation in Assam has been working tirelessly to ensure the State transforms into a foremost one in every front. With this in mind, projects worth Rs 15,000 crore were undertaken across the State, of which around Rs 693 crore have been earmarked for Bongaigaon district. He also stated that Bongaigaon has a special significance in the State’s culture and history. The district has also contributed immensely to the spiritual environment of Assam.
