CM Sarma vows to develop Jongal Balahu rampart as tourist destination

Guwahati: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday visited Jongal Balahu rampart at Roha in Nagaon district, which has been named after the great Tiwa king and brave warrior Jongal Balahu and assured that as announced earlier, the government will prepare an integrated action plan for its revival and transforming it into an attractive tourist destination.
Sarma also added that within the next few months, works will start and once completed the site, involving a project cost of over rupees 50 crore, will become a glittering place of attraction in the region. Giving a detailed snapshot of the project, Sarma stated that the entire work has been divided into three parts, two ends of the rampart and middle portion along with other components.

As a part of the project, an auditorium and an amphitheatre will also be constructed, where a children park, amusement park, light & sound show will also feature. On the water body inside the premises, a number of hanging bridges will be constructed and for the comfort of tourists, the electric rickshaws, eatery and cafeteria will also be included in the project. State minister Pijush Hazarika, political secretary to CM Jayanta Malla Baruah, legislators Rupak Sharma, Shashi Kanta Das and Jitu Goswami also accompanied Sarma on the occasion.
