Financial aids distributed among 1105 NDFB ex-cadres

Guwahati: As a part of the rehabilitation package to surrendered militants of various armed outfits, Assam government recently presented fixed deposit certificates amounting to rupees four lakh each to 1105 ex-cadres of NDFB belonging to different factions of the outfit, who abjure violence and returned to the mainstream.
Addressing a function, while giving financial benefits to the ex-rebels at Tamulpur on Sunday, State chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma commented that the government as an important component of Bodo Peace Accord-signed on 27 January 2020-designed the rehabilitation package to make the youths economically empowered.
He also added that the BJP led government in Dispur has prepared a comprehensive roadmap for all round development of Assam, where adequate space has been created to use the services of disgruntled youths of the State who shunned the path of violence.
“As a part of our commitment to bring the disgruntled youths to the main stream of the society and make them an important part of our composite human resource, I am happy to hand over fixed deposit certificates to our youths with a request to make good use of the money and help in our endeavour to start an economic movement to make an Atmanirbhar Asom,” said Sama.
Expressing his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union home minister Amit Shah and Bodo leaders, who took an active role to herald a new era of peace in Assam, Sarma added that the rehabilitation of cadres is one of the important components of Bodo Accord signed on 27 January 2020.
He also paid rich tributes to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma and assured the people of BTR that the government is steadfast in fulfilling their aspirations. As a commitment of the government for the promotion of Bodo language and culture, it is contemplating allowing the willing students to write the APSC examination in Bodo language, he pointed out.
In presence of State ministers UG Brahma & Ashok Singhal, BTR chief Pramod Boro, State home principal secretary Niraj Varma, special DGP LR Bishnoi, ADGP (special branch) Hiren Nath with others, Sarma called upon the ex-cadres not to be swayed away by any external stimulus or pressure and to co-operate the government in its bid to build & promote a socio-economic, cultural and academic empowerment narrative in Assam.
