Kerala – Police registers case against Hindu devotees for peacefully protesting against anti-Hindu remarks of Speaker AN Shamseer

Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Communist government has begun suppressing the peaceful protests of Hindu devotees against the anti-Hindu remarks of Kerala Assembly Speaker AN Shamseer.

The Kerala Police registered a case against Nair Service Society (NSS) Vice President Sangeeth Kumar, and against more than a thousand people for chanting mantras and leading a peaceful march in protest against Speaker AN Shamseer’s anti-Hindu remarks. Sangeeth Kumar is the first accused in the police case.

The case was registered by the Cantonment Police against the devotees on a flimsy charge of traffic disruption, and for gathering illegally and conducting a march. The police say that it is a violation of the High Court order. However, the NSS authorities said that information regarding the march was conveyed to higher officers in the police department.

The march, organized by the NSS, began from Pallayam Ganapathi temple to Pazhavangadi Ganapthi temple at East Fort, which is barely 3 kms away.

However, marches and protests in Thiruvananthapuram city is a common sight and police rarely registers case against political parties for disrupting the traffic. Many devotees are saying that this is an attempt by the government to trample the peaceful protests by the Hindu devotees.

NSS determined to oppose anti-Hindu speech

In response to the case registered against the Nair Service Society (NSS) Vice President, M Sangeeth Kumar, and thousands of other identifiable NSS members for their participation in the procession (Namapajapa Yatra) in Thiruvananthapuram, Sangeeth Kumar stated that the NSS will address the case through legal means.

Sangeeth Kumar also said that the case against him through the news media and expressed his discontent with the lack of direct communication from the authorities. He emphasized that the procession was conducted without any provocation and was solely organized to express their opposition against the hateful anti-Hindu speech made by Kerala Legislative Assembly member AN Shamseer.

Undeterred by the legal action, the NSS firmly maintains its stance and will confront the case through lawful means. Kumar stressed that the protest was brought to the attention of the police, and relevant authorities were informed, including the City Police Commissioner, Fort AC, Cantonment AC, and DGP.

The NSS leadership will decide on further actions in response to the situation.
