SITA sings agreement with AAU on livelihood enhancement program

Guwahati: State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA), Assam has signed an agreement with Assam Agricultural University (AAU) to execute the project on integrated approached for employment empowerment adopting scientific organized goat farming for livelihood enhancement at Janata Bhawan on Friday. The memorandum of agreement (MoA) was signed by SITA chief executive officer MS Manivannan and AAU veterinary research director Dr Niranjan Kalita in presence of SITA vice-chairman Ramen Deka.
Mentionable is that the SITA will provide financial assistance for the concerned study for livelihood enhancement in Assam which would be implemented by the AAU based on the concept envisaged by Anajori Development Society as its executing partner. The study involves the upliftment of socio-economic condition and economic empowerment of rural women with increasing awareness generation and stablishing the village level knowledge sharing centres to finally encouraging the goat farming as a profitable business enterprise.
Ramen Deka, while addressing the brief function attended by AAU scientists Dr Dipok Bhuyan, Dr Mihir Sarma, SITA officials DS Hazari, Anajori Development Society president M Rahman with others, expressed hope that the project would be successful in enhancing productivity of livestock and poultry. He also added the initiative for skill upgradation of small, marginal farmer and upcoming youth entrepreneur would enhance skills of the women farming community in the State.
