Guwahati: A special voter’s enrollment initiative with an aim to include all qualified electorates’ names in the voter’s list begins on Saturday in Assam. State chief electoral officer Nitin Khade recently announced the special campaign dates (13 & 14 November 2021) in regards to the ongoing process of special summary revision for registration of all eligible voters/citizens in the
integrated draft electoral roll.
Keeping up with the motto ‘No Voter To Be Left Behind’ and as per direction of the Election Commission of India, the State authority urges all citizens to be a part of the democratic process. The final electoral roll is expected to be published on 5 January 2022 for all the 126 assembly constituencies of Assam.
“Under this initiative, the district electoral officers will organize special camps/ workshops in order to facilitate the eligible citizens, who wish to add their names in the electoral roll. The citizens may
approach the booth level officers of their respective polling stations during the campaign to register their names,” said a statement.
The initiative will give the opportunity to a citizen to apply for deletion of a name already included in the electoral roll, to raise objection against inclusion of a name in the list, to request for correction of any entry, to change of names from one polling station to another within the same constituency, etc. The citizens are required to carry their passport size photographs, certificates of ordinary residence and one document of age proofs.
