Two Assam minors rescued from suspected human trafficker

Guwahati: Two minors were rescued from a suspected trafficker in Chirang district of central Assam recently. One married man named Jahiruddin in Mozabari area under Sidli police station lured both the tribal girls and allegedly sexually assaulted them. The guardians of Koch Rajbongshi girls lodged a police complaint and thus the dark issue came to light. Jahiruddin brought the girls to his residence on 20 August and kept them for his hidden agendas.

Soon after the police complaint was lodged, Jahiruddin fled and his cell phone was found switched off. Now the police start an intensive operation to catch him. After his residence was searched, the police now extended the operation to other probable locations to trace him.

Jahiruddin promised jobs to both the minors in Hyderabad and allegedly planned to traffic them. However, some conscious citizens took a decisive stand and rescued both the girls to hand over them to their families. They also called upon Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to take personal interest in dealing with the situation so that the local girls can be saved from the trap of traffickers across the State.
