Two-Day Uttar Assam Prant Vichar Varga of Swadeshi Jagran Manch Concludes in Guwahati

The two-day Prant Vichar Varga (regional contemplation camp) organized by the North Assam Prant unit of the Swadeshi Jagran Manch concluded on Sunday at the historic Pandunath Devalaya Temple in Guwahati. The event saw active participation from delegates representing seven districts of North Assam, including Guwahati.

In his address during the concluding session, Annada Shankar Panigrahi, Akhil Bharatiya Sangharsh Vahini Pramukh, highlighted the urgent need for self-reliance in the current times. He asserted that this goal can only be achieved through a firm commitment to Swadeshi ideals. The Manch, he said, will dedicate the coming year to fostering the spirit of “Swa” (Self) among the people.

Panigrahi stressed the importance of embracing and promoting indigenous culture, language, clothing, medicine, food, technology, and economy as key to national enrichment. Referring to “Operation Sindoor,” he stated that the initiative has underscored Bharat’s strength, which fundamentally lies in Swadeshi. “The more we invest in developing indigenous alternatives, the stronger and more self-sustaining Bharat becomes — a strength that fosters development, not destruction,” he added.

Dr. Dharmendra Dubey, Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh of the Manch, also spoke at the camp. He emphasized that Bharatiya culture is deeply rooted in the philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam — the belief that the world is one family. He said that true peace and global well-being can only come through the values upheld by Bharatiya culture. As foreign corporations continue to expand their businesses in India, he urged every citizen to support and promote local industries and small enterprises.

“If we consciously choose to purchase products made by Indian companies, we will not only strengthen the Swadeshi economy but also open new doors of employment and entrepreneurship for the youth. This is the real path to development,” he said.

Prof. Tarani Deka, Prant Coordinator of the Manch, announced the launch of the “Swadeshi Suraksha evam Swavalamban Abhiyan” in Assam during the event.

As part of this campaign:

A comprehensive list of Swadeshi and foreign goods will be prepared in the Assamese language and distributed across rural areas.

A catalog of goods locally produced in Assam will also be compiled.

Awareness will be spread about the harmful impact of foreign multinational products—especially those sold via e-commerce platforms like Amazon and Flipkart—on local markets.

The campaign will also include appeals to establish Swadeshi Corners in marketplaces throughout Guwahati and major towns of Assam. To officially launch the initiative, a Swadeshi Shankhnaad (clarion call) event will be organized soon. Additionally, mass awareness efforts will be undertaken to encourage the boycott of Chinese, Bangladeshi, and other foreign products, reinforcing the movement towards economic self-sufficiency.
