Guwahati: Union ports, shipping & waterways and Ayush minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday attended the India International Science Festival (IISF) 2021 in Panaji of Goa. At the inaugural function, tributes were paid to recently deceased India’s first chief of defence staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat by observing silent prayer.
Sonowal visited various stalls at the IISF, which is an annual event considered to be the biggest platform in the country that brings together students, researchers, innovators, artists and the public from different parts of the globe. Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant, Union minister Jitendra Singh, Shripad Naik along with various dignitaries also graced the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Sonowal highlighted the rapid growth of science and technology under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi. With the call of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, PM Modi connected with every citizen of the country, said Sonowal adding that the huge success of Covid-19 vaccination program in India is a reflection of the success of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
Highlighting on the growing popularity of Ayush around the world, Sonowal stated that scientists are doing new studies to validate India’s age-old traditional systems of medicine. Ayush has already captured a global market worth more than 18 billion dollars, he revealed, adding that along with scientific growth, every citizen has to pledge to make a pollution-free Bharat.
