AssamGuv, CM, ministers, officials pay homage to martyrs in New Delhimemorials

Guwahati: Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, State chief minister HimantaBiswa Sarma, State ministers and senior officials visited three keynational monuments in New Delhi on Sunday and paid homage to thebrave hearts who laid down their lives defending the unity andterritorial integrity of India.
Visiting National War Memorial, Governor Kataria and CM Sarma laid floralwreaths at the war column – Amar Jawan. They went round thesprawling complex where the martyr’s names are inscribed in thewall of valour and paid tributes to them. Sarma said the war memorialwould continue to inspire and motivate the young generation to makesacrifices for the sake of the motherland.
Later,the Assam delegates visited National Police Memorial and paidtributes to the police personnel for their supreme sacrifice forsafeguarding territorial integrity of the nation. Besides GovernorKataria and CM Sarma, State chief secretary Paban Kumar Borthakurand special State police chief Harmeet Singh also laid floralwreaths at the memorial column. Later the team visited NationalPolice Museum.

Theyalso visited Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya and went round the rareexhibits of all Prime Ministers on display. Mentionable is that thedecision to visit the iconic landmarks in the national capital wastaken at a State cabinet meeting held on 23 January last. Monthsback, Assam government celebrated the 400th birth anniversary oflegendary Ahom warrior Lachit Barphukan in New Delhi.
