Sarma attends Pandu College celebration

Guwahati: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma attended the diamond jubilee celebration of Pandu College in the city on Tuesday and lauded the role of the institution of higher learning in the nation-building process through its numerous alumni who have excelled in their respective areas of profession and expertise. He exuded confidence that Pandu College, established in 1962, shall continue to work towards its mission of spread of education in the society.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to celebrate the next 25 years as Amrit Kaal, Sarma appealed to the faculty members, current and past students of Pandu College to contribute their bit in the nation attaining its rightful place on the 100th year of independence. He made an appeal to the management to prepare a 15-year roadmap aimed at its infrastructure, educational growth so that Pandu College is transformed into a sought-after educational institution in the region.

Referring to wisdom and knowledge as two integral qualities of Indian civilization, Sarma asked the students to imbibe these two qualities for holistic growth adding, a life without any aim cannot be termed meaningful. In presence of Parliaments Queen Ojha and Pabitra Margherita, GMC mayor Mrigen Sarania, Pandu College principal Jogesh Kakoti with others, Sarma referred to Gunotsav, holding of Assam cabinet meetings on weekly basis and outside the capital as innovative approaches that have taken the governance process more closer to the common man.
