Guwahati: Assamese translation of the original Hindi book ‘Meri Pracharak Yatra’ by senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Pracharak Shashikant Chauthaiwale was released on Saturday in the city. RSS Kshetra Sanghchalak Dr Umesh Chandra Chakraborty and the Sangh’s all India executive member V. Bhagaiah unveiled the book (translated by RSS’s Assam Kshetra Baiddhik Pramukh Tirthankar Das) in a function held at Karmayogi Gourishankar Chakraborty Hall of Sudarshanalaya. The meeting started with lighting the sacred lamp in front of Bharat Mata’s portrait.
Mentionable is that Chauthaiwale came to Assam in 1961 as a Sangh Pracharak. Most of the incidents during his Sangh’s sacrificial life were recorded in the book. RSS volunteers started working in the State 1946 and the Sangh workers faced a lot of difficulties from 1950 to 2020, which are documented on papers. Problems faced in different phases like the language movement (1960), national emergency (1975), Assam agitation (1979- 85) and lately underground movements etc were also mentioned.
Chakraborty in his inaugural speech highlighted the contribution of Chauthaiwale for the growth of RSS despite threats to his life. He also mentioned great personalities like Giridhar Sharma, Tirthnath Sharma, Bhumidev Goswami and many others as Sangh functionaries. Bhagaiah expressed satisfaction that the book was published (by Prachi Prakashan) in Assamese language after Hindi, Marathi and Bengali.. He also informed that the book would also be translated into English very soon.
Assam Guv visits Nalbari: Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Saturday visited Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University in Nalbari district and interacted with the vice-chancellor Prahlad R Joshi and other faculty members. During his maiden visit to the university, Governor Kataria commented that development of an educational institution lies on the quality of students it produces.
He asked the teachers to channelize their energy to produce good students with moral character to enable them to radiate the ethos and spirit of the university. Urgeing them to strive towards achieving higher academic rankings through diligent efforts and unwavering commitment to the noble cause of education, Governor Kataria emphasized on grooming students in a way that helps to equip them with the necessary skills & knowledge to make meaningful contributions to the nation. He also inaugurated Krishna Kanta Handique open air classroom in the campus.
During his visit to the district, Governor Kataria also held a meeting with the district magistrate Gitimoni Phukan and various department heads to take stock of developmental works along with the prevailing law & order situation. He commented that the development of any district becomes fast, if good law & order situations prevail. The Governor also took stock of the status of health & hygiene, jal jeevan mission, education, agriculture, tourism among others. During the meeting, he stressed on multiple cropping, PM awas yojana, irrigation etc.
