Guwahati: Academic activities at up-and-coming medical colleges in Nagaon, Nalbari and Kokrajhar of Assam are expected to begin very soon. Moreover, treatment facilities for the people in those college hospitals are also planned to begin by this year, said State chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He also referred to the inspection by a team of National Medical Council in Kokrajhar medical college & hospital and probable inspection at Nagaon and Nalbari medical colleges & hospitals soon.
Sarma recently undertook a visit to Nagaon and Nalbari medical college hospitals along with State health minister Keshab Mahanta and PHE minister Jayanta Mallabaruah, and took stock of the progress of the outpatient/in-patient departments and other facilities created in both the institutions. He also held an interaction with the faculty members. Later Sarma commented that the physical progress of those under construction hospitals is satisfactory.
Meanwhile, Sarma on Friday interacted with members of National Cadet Corps (NCC) and National Service Scheme (NSS) belonging to Assam (who took part in the Republic Day parade in New Delhi) and inquired about their experiences in the national capital. During the interaction, he appealed to the young NCC and NSS cadets to continue to work towards the process of nation-building by utilising the experiences gained during the preparations and practice for the auspicious day.
Sarma also appealed to them to write about their R-Day parade experiences in their respective educational institutions’ magazines, souvenirs, etc. It would inspire others to imbibe a sense of nationalism and patriotism. Responding to questions on success, failure, life-lessons, motivations, among others, Sarma stated that life doesn’t always move forward on a straight lane but often meanders along a zig-zag path.
It is hence important that one takes motivation not only from success stories but also learns from the stories of failures, he remarked adding that there is no short-cut to success and one must take part in healthy competition always. Sarma further said only those who realise the purpose of life manage to make a permanent place in people’s memory.
“One must make himself/herself capable before embarking on the path to help others. One must shine like a sun before spreading light and removing darkness from the lives of others,” commented Sarma. He also added that the government has been working on a sports & youth policy where the NCC and NSS would be given special attention in it. As a token of appreciation, Sarma gifted a pair of tracksuit to each participant.
