Assam plans to nurture indigenous Muslim’s interest

Guwahati: With an aim to nurture the socio-political and economic interest of indigenous Muslim families in Assam, the BJP led
government has decided to form eight sub-groups for valued recommendations on various important issues like health, education, skill development,
women empowerment, financial inclusion, preservation of cultural identity etc, which would be implemented over a period of five years.
The sub-groups, with a chairman from the indigenous Muslim minority community and a member secretary from the government, are expected to
come up with their approvals on assigned matters within three months. And based on their recommendations, the government will prepare a
roadmap for all round developments of the community in the State. Conveying a meeting for interactions with intellectuals and leading
citizens form the religious minority community in the city on Sunday, State chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma asserted that
comprehensive developments of the community should be accelerated so that it becomes a significant contributor in the growth narrative of
the State keeping their cultural identity intact. Noted Assamese author Padmashree Eli Ahmed, acclaimed physician
Padmashree Dr Illias Ali along with Syed SK Alam, Wasbir Hussain, SI Ahmed, Nekibur Zaman etc among nearly 150 eminent Muslim personalities
from eastern and central Assam participated in meeting, where State minorities welfare and development minister CM Patowary, education
minister Dr Ranoj Pegu, CM’s political secretary Jayanta Malla Baruah with others were also present.
