Assam shows commitment for development of indigenous Muslims

Guwahati: Assam government, while showing sincerity to overall developments of indigenous Muslim community in the State, has vowed to adopt short, medium and long term strategies in the coming days. Receiving the reports of seven sub-committees, which were formed by the government a few months back after pragmatic interactions with a group of eminent personalities from indigenous minority communities, State chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma assured necessary actions.
The sub-committees, after necessary studies framed the report containing their recommendations on cultural identity, health, education, skill development, population stabilization, financial inclusion and women empowerment, submitted to Sarma, where State minority welfare minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, CM’s political secretary Jayanta Malla Baruah, chairman & senior members of those sub-committees with responsible government officers were present on the occasion.
In another program, Sarma laid the foundation stone of a guest house (Yatri Niwas) and the
project for development of Saraighat lake adjacent to Kamrup district magistrate office at Amingaon on Thursday. He expressed hope that the guest house would benefit the patients and other visitors to the upcoming AIIMS hospital at Changsari and also strengthen the tourism infrastructure on the north bank of mighty river Brahmaputra.

The State tourism development corporation will implement both the projects with estimated cost of rupees 43 and 5 crore respectively. Sarma on the same function launched a ceremonial distribution of financial assistance amounting to rupees 2 lakh to 114 numbers of registered tour operators and an amount of rupees 25,000 to 605 numbers of registered tourist guides under the Paryatan Sanjeevani Scheme of the tourism department.
