Palanpur: On the second day of 14th All India Convention of the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS), the national President and General Secretary of the BKS were elected. Representatives from across the country elected K. Sai Reddy (Telangana) as the national President and Mohini Mohan Mishra (Odisha) as the General Secretary. Vice Presidents T Perumal, Ram Bharos Vasotiya, Vishal Chandrakar, Sushila Vishnoi were also elected to the executive committee. All India Ministers Babu Bhai Patel, Dr Somdev Sharma, Bhanu Thapa, Veena Satish, Treasurer Jugal Kishore Mishra, Organization Minister Dinesh Kulkarni, Co-Organization Minister Gajendra Singh, Organic Head Nana Akhere, Women Coordinator Manju Dixit, Office head Chandrashekhar, All India publicity head Raghavendra Singh Patel were announced.
In the closing session of the convention, All India Organization Minister Dinesh Kulkarni said that to fulfill the concept of developed India by 2047, there is a need to move forward by adopting agriculture-friendly technology along with Gau Krishi Vanijyam. Agriculture has the biggest share in the country’s economy, so agriculture and farmers have a big responsibility in building a holistically developed India. All India Contact Chief of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Ramlal ji said that for us, farmers’ interest is on the threshold of national interest. We are away from linguistic, casteism, regionalism because we say Bharat Mata ki Jai. Kisan Sangh will have to work by preparing a roadmap for the next three years.
According to the membership list presented in the BKS convention, active village committees of Kisan Sangh have been formed in 60 thousand villages. Through these village committees, BKS has made 42 lakh farmers its members across the country.
There were nine sessions in the three day long All India BKS Convention. In which the presidents and general secretaries from different states presented the report of organisational, agitational and constructive programmes being conducted by the Kisan Sangh in their respective states in their regional languages.
In the convention of Kisan Sangh, two resolutions were passed – ‘Organic farming is a responsibility’, ‘Proper management of agricultural manpower towards holistic rural’. In which all the farmers across the country were called upon to adopt organic farming. In the second resolution, it has been said to strengthen the idea of agricultural production, value addition, processing, storage, marketing commerce, small cottage, village industry, handicraft dimensions, village self-reliance by improving and changing the policies, so that the villages of the country can build a prosperous life.
On the second day of the convention, a procession was taken out from Sardar Krishinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University to Palanpur in Gujarat. Officers of Kisan Sangh from various states participated in it in their local costumes. Banners carrying the message of cow-based natural farming, we need organic farming and not poison, were put up on tractor trolleys during the procession.
The farmers who attended the convention visited various departments with the help of Vice Chancellor of Sardar Krishinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University Dr. RM Chauhan. In which they observed the successful models of integrated agriculture system, cow based organic farming, organic fertilizer, processing, animal husbandry, seed preparation. Earlier, the scientists of the university informed the farmers about the benefits of advanced agricultural techniques and natural farming in the technical session.
The presence of a large number of women farmers in the convention of Kisan Sangh was a topic of discussion. Women farmers from various states across the country were present in the special costumes of their respective states. Women farmers also led the tractor procession of cow-based natural farming.
