CM Sarma inspects construction work of Madhavdev Kalakshetra

Guwahati: Assam chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the birthplace of spiritual icon Shri Shri Madhavdev on Tuesday and reviewed the
construction works for  Madhavdev Kalakshetra at Narayanpur in Lakhimpur district in eastern part of the State.
Sarma directed the PWD officials  to complete construction activities of the cultural complex within a period of nine months. He also asked
local legislator Dr Amiya Kumar Bhuyan to regularly monitor progress of works maintaining the required qualities.
He also visited the site of Lakhimpur medical college hospital and took stock of the progress of works. He inspected the newly
constructed blocks and wards of the healthcare institution. Sarma later held a meeting with the college authority, district civil and
police administrations, representatives of PWD, etc discussed various relevant issues.
Earlier, Sarma reviewed flood preparedness and corona situation in the district and directed the local administration to take prompt actions
for relief & rescue operations. He asked the district magistrate Sumit Sattawan to take steps for releasing financial aids to affected
families and repair institutional buildings damaged by the flood. He also asked NEEPCO officials to immediately activate the manual
system necessary for early warning of flood in case it releases water from the Ronganadi hydroelectricity project. At the same time, Sarma
ordered the water resources department to take steps for restoration of vulnerable erosion points, and the agriculture department to
identify high land areas for developing as community nurseries for
rice saplings.
Accompanied by State minister Sanjay Kishan, Parliamentarians  Pallab Lochan Das & Pradan Baruah, legislators Manab Deka,  Utpal Bora, Naba
Kumar Doley with others in different occasions, Sarma also visited the construction site of North Lakhimpur sports complex and took stock of
its progress.
