
Guwahati: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday paid a visit to the State chief secretary Jishnu Barua, who is retiring from the Indian Administrative Service on reaching the superannuation age, at the latter’s office in the State secretariat.
Sarma, accompanied by State minister Ranoj Pegu, CS-designate Paban Kumar Borthakur and principal secretary Samir Kumar Sinha, lauded the outgoing CS Barua for his dedicated service to the State and its residents for more than three decades. He also wished Barua a happy and healthy post-retirement life.
Barua, a 1988-batch IAS officer of Assam-Meghalaya cadre, prior to his appointment as the State CS worked in various capacities under both the State government and Union government in New Delhi. Sarma expressed hope that Barua would always be available for advice and guidance, whenever the government reached up to him.
