Construction works begin for 200 bedded ESIC model hospital in Beltola

Guwahati: Union minister Rameswar Teli on Tuesday unveiled the plaque of 200 bedded ESIC model hospital in Beltola locality of the city. The labour and employment ministry has approved the proposal for the hospital and sanctioned around rupees 143 crore for the project.
Initially the Beltola ESIC hospital used to provide treatment facilities to insured persons from Assam only, but now it has been enhanced to serve the people from other north-eastern Stales like Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Tripura and Mizoram.

Teli in his speech made the announcement that the State government approved the proposal to handover the ESI hospital in Tinsukia to ESIC. Soon that hospital will provide modern and better treatment facilities to the people through ESIC under the labor department, he added.

The Centre had recently implemented ESIC schemes in 6 more new districts of Assam namely Kokrajhar, Baksa, Hojai, Charaido, Dimahasao and Hailakandi. Now ESI scheme has been implemented in about 30 districts of Assam.

Talking about e-Shram portal, Teli informed that so far eight crore people have got themselves registered on this portal. He appealed to everyone to cooperate with the government in completing the registration as soon as possible.

Speaking about ESIC Covid-19 Relief Scheme, the minister informed that it was launched this year to provide assistance and relief to the insured families, in case of death of the insured person due to Covid-19. Under the scheme several lakh rupees have been paid for many claims in Assam till date, added Teli.
Earlier on Monday, State chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma ceremonially distributed the letters of award for a special smart meter project of APDCL funded by Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). The project will bring transparency in the meter reading and billing process, thereby enhancing consumers’ trust in the company, said Sarma.
He stressed on the timely completion of all the projects for efficient power delivery to the consumers while cutting down transmission losses. In presence of State power minister Bimal Borah, chief secretary Jishnu Baruah and others, Sarma commented that all welfare projects must be completed in a mission mode.
