Hati Bondhu from Assam selected for Indian Panorama

Guwahati: Only one non-feature film from Assam has been selected for screening under Indian Panorama 2022, the flagship component of International Film Festival of India (IFFI), which was announced in New Delhi on Saturday. The single entry from the State titled Hati Bondhu , directed by Kripal Kalita, is also categorized in English language section, which narrates the story of a voluntary organization dedicated for the welfare of elephants in Assam.
Altogether 25 feature films and 20 non-feature films were selected for the Indian Panorama, which will be showcased at 53rd IFFI (20-28 November) in Goa. Aim of the Indian Panorama, initiated by National Film Development Corporation under the Union information and broadcasting ministry, is to select feature and non-feature films of cinematic, thematic and aesthetic excellence in accordance with the conditions and concerned procedures. The selection of films is made by eminent film personalities from across India comprising of twelve jury members for feature films and six for non-feature films.
Besides Hati Bondhu , selected other non-feature films include Yaanam (Sanskrit, Vinod Mankara), Beyond Blast (Manipuri, Saikhom Ratan), Taangh (English, Bani Singh), Ayushman (English, Jacob Varghese), Other Ray: Art of Satyajit Ray (English, Jaydip Mukherjee), Gurujana (English, Sudipto Sen), Hatibondhu (English, Kripal Kalita), Clinton (English, Prithviraj Das Gupta), Pataal-Tee (Bhotiya, Mukund Narayan   & Santosh Singh), Wagro (Konkani, Sainath S Uskaikar), Madhyantara (Kannada, Basti Dinesh Shenoy), etc.
The list also comprises Fatima (Hindi, Sourabh Kanti Dutta), Khajuraho, Anand Aur Mukti (Hindi, Ramji Om & Deepika Kothari), Vibhajan Ki Vibhishka Unkahi Kahaniyan (Hindi, Hitesh Shankar), Chhu Med Na Yul Med (Hindi, Munmun Dhalaria), Before I Die (Hindi, Nakul Dev), Veetilekku (Malayalam, Akhil Dev M), Rekha (Marathi, Shekhar Bapu Rankhambe), Little Wings (Tamil, Naveenkumar Muthaiah), where The Show Must Go On (English, Ms Divya Cowasji) has been picked up by the jury members as the opening non-feature film.
On the other hand, selected feature films include Mahananda (Bengali, directed by Arindam Sil), Three of Us (Hindi, Avinash Arun Dhaware), The Storyteller (Hindi, Ananth Narayan Mahadevan), Major (Hindi, Sashi Kiran Tikka), Siya (Hindi, Manish Mundra), Dhabari Quruvi (Irula, Priyanandanan), Naanu Kusuma (Kannada, Krishne  Gowda), Lotus Blooms (Maithili, Pratik Sharma), Ariyippu (Malayalam, Mahesh Narayanan), Saudi Vellakka CC.225/2009 (Malayalam, Tharun Moorthy), Pratikshya (Oriya, Anupam Patnaik), Cinema Bandi (Telugu, Kandregula Praveen), Kudhiram Bose (Telugu, Vidya Sagar Raju), etc.
The list also includes Frame (Marathi, Vikram Patwardhan), Sher Shivraj (Marathi, Digpal Lanjekar), Ekda Kaay Zala (Marathi, Saleel Shrinivas Kulkarni), Kurangu Pedal (Tamil, Kamalakannan S), Kida (Tamil, RA.Venkat), Jai Bhim (Tamil, Tha Se Gnanavel), where Hadinelentu (Kannada, Prithvi Konanur) is picked up as the opening feature film. The Kashmir Files (Hindi, Vivek Agnihotri), RRR-Roudram Ranam Rudhiram (Telugu, S S Rajamouli), Tonic (Bengali, Avijit Sen), Akhanda (Telugu, Boyapati Srinivasa Rao) and Dharmveer..Mukkam Post Thane (Marathi, Pravin Vitthal Tarde) were selected for screening in the mainstream cinema section.
Introduced in 1978 as part of the IFFI umbrella to promote Indian films along with India’s rich culture and heritage with the help of cinematic art, Indian Panorama is devoted to showcasing the best Indian films of the year. Those films are sent for non-profit screening in international film festivals in India and abroad, Indian film weeks held under bilateral cultural exchange programs and specialized Indian film festivals outside cultural exchange protocols, and special Indian Panorama festivals across the country.
