Guwahati: Apprehending the spread of Covid-19 in the State at the backdrop of rising number of Omicron infections across the country, Assam government has reimposed the night curfew from 26 December (beginning on 11.30 pm till 6 next day morning). According to the new directive, issued by the State disaster management authority, the night curfew is applicable for both the urban and rural areas, but it has been relaxed on 31 December.
“All the government offices will remain open. Business/commercial establishments, dine-in restaurants, hotels, other eateries, takeaway of food items from restaurants, sale counters, showrooms, etc can function up to 10.30 pm every day. Regarding closed venues (including cinema halls), the gathering is allowed up to 50 percent of the total seating capacity of the hall or auditoriums,” said the directive.
Religious places are allowed to operate with 60 fully vaccinated persons per hour for iconic places and 40 persons for other sacred places. Wearing musk is made mandatory and spitting in public places has been strictly prohibited, otherwise rupees 1000 would be fined from the concerned individual. Violating the directives will invite legal action under various provisions of the disaster management act 2005 and IPC.
