Sonowal tears down oppositions on corruption & nepotism in Meghalaya

Guwahati: Union ports, shipping & waterways and Ayush minister Sarbananda Sonowal came down heavily on the opposition parties (National People’s Party and Trinamool Congress) with tirade of charges including corruption, nepotism & inefficiency. Addressing an election rally at Byrnihat on Monday, the Bhartiya Janata Party leader commented that the north-eastern part of India came out its dark past to reclaim its glory due to the persistent effort by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“From the days of violence and economic indifference when the region was misruled by the Congress, it has now emerged as the new engine of growth for India. The nonstop development of the region has propelled the region,” said Sonowal while campaigning for saffron candidate Riya Sangma from Jirang constituency in the forthcoming State legislative assembly polls.
He added that the Union government provided huge aid and support to the NPP-led government in Shillong, which failed to realize those on ground. Due to the twin issues of corruption and nepotism, the NPP failed the people of Meghalaya, asserted Sonowal adding that to bring an end to these twin problems, BJP is the only viable option as it can provide a sustainable solution to eliminate these maladies from the politics of Meghalaya.
“BJP has always respected the views of the tribal community. Also, you are aware of BJP’s crusade against corruption and nepotism from the national politics. Role of the region, including Meghalaya, is immense in contributing towards the growth of the country. Our party is committed towards building & strengthening the region to become the corridor of progress & development. Meghalaya, with its majestic natural beauty, rich mineral resources and a strong human resource pool offers lot of opportunity to market its potential to bring business, build capacity and boost prosperity,” opined Sonowal.
