Guwahati: Assam government, while appreciating the bravery, honesty and integrity of Borsing Bey, has rewarded him by appointing as a
constable in the police. State chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma handed over an appointment letter to Borsing on Saturday at a program
in the city.
Borsing, who was posted as a home guard at a Karbi Anglong check gate and he refused a huge amount of money from the drug dealers on 21
June. Finally he helped the authority to recover illegal drugs worth rupees 12 crore from a night bus.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Sarma asserted that Borsing’s exemplary show of honesty and integrity while performing his duty will inspire
the entire police force. Assam police chief Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta has already awarded him with rupee one lakh.
Stating that the society has a moral duty to safeguard the younger generation from the menace of drugs,
Sarma elaborated the government’s relentless fights against the drugs mafia. He also revealed that due to zero tolerance attitude adopted by
the government, illegal drugs worth rupees 135 crores were seized in last 45 days from different parts of the State.
Speaking about several initiatives to strengthen the police forces, he claimed that it has highly inspired the police personnel to prevent
cattle smuggling and crimes against women & children to a larger extend. Sarma elaborated about the improved facilities for the
police personnel on medical reimbursements, annual health checks, housing facilities, etc.
In presence of State ministers Atul Bora, UG Brahma, Keshab Mahanta, Jogen Mohan, Assam assembly deputy speaker Dr Numol Momin, Karbi
Anglong autonomous council chief Tuliram Ronghang with other dignitaries, Sarma stated that the government would continue
recognizing honest and brave individuals in the State.
